Christmas Pageant 2008

Art Tart Rossy
Ladies the Christmas Pageant was an absolute joyous occasion,
enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. The Scarlett O’Hatters
were colourful and cheerful, with bright smiles and lots of
Christmas Spirit to share. Placed eleventh in the parade, the smart
pace we had to keep did not deter about thirty strong Scarletts from
keeping up with the groups leading the forty five pageant entrants.
With red and purple parasols and balloons, defying the threat of bad
weather we spread our cheer. Faces lit up with delight from the
very young, to the not so very young people in the crowd, as
Christmas greetings were called by the ladies in their purple
clothes and red hats. We impressed the judges once again and were
voted to have the best costumes.

Madam May Bloom caught the eye of a Mercury cameraman and featured
on page four of the Sunday Tasmanian. We also featured on the front
page of the November issue of the Seniors Tasmania paper, a very
good write up and a cheerful photo of Phyllis - The Blue None,
Judith – Dame Merry-go-Round and Barbara – The Baroness of Baubles,
taken at the 2007 pageant.

The pageant finished at Market Place and we proceeded to the Grand
Chancellor Atrium for High Tea – which was delicious. It was great
to see regular pageant participants Rik Contessa de Sparkle and Dame
Vik, back from their travels and Penny from Heaven well enough to
attend. We welcomed Cheryl, Christina and Robyn, as guests for the
day. Cheryl enjoyed her day so much she signed up to become a
member for 2009, and after discussion around her table will now be
known as Lady Chat-a-Lot.

We had a few last minute apologies due to sickness and we hope PatP,
LindaC are feeling better. We thanked Sandra – Duchess Dragonfly
and Katherine, Crown Princess Mary’s daughter for their beautiful
purple cars, which are an invaluable part of the day, as they carry
all the extra bits and bobs we need following the pageant. Also
thankyou to Katherine’s friend Ariel for accompanying her and
wearing her bear costume, which was big hit with the little people
along the way. A big thank you must go to Phyllis and Mary for
taking time to blow up our balloons on Friday night, they also
pitched in and helped organise some of the other groups balloons,
including the Boy Scouts. Well done and thank you girls.

Rossy wore an outstanding costume, including a red wig and amazing
red spectacles. Who did we see sitting in the back of the Crown
Princess Mary’s car? Shirley still has her wonderful Christmas mini
skirt and great legs to wear the purple fish net stockings with it.
Phyllis’ creation was eye catching to say the least. But the hat of
the day had to go to Barbara – The Baroness of Baubles. Barbara’s
hat featured bright red Christmas baubles and looked very festive.
A big thank you to everyone as you made the day a success, with
your wonderful outfits, beautiful hats and happy smiles. Well done
Scarletts.
