Well,
didn't we have a great time on our
Birthday Mystery Bus
trip.
Brett, our bus driver and his friend (no doubt along for
protection from us scary ladies!) were most accommodating.
We boarded the bus at the Black Buffalo Hotel
and then
made our way up the Southern Outlet to the Mt Nelson
Tavern, where we enjoyed a drink and some lovely
sandwiches and cheese-and-biscuit trays.
Then
back on the
bus, and the next stop was the lawn by St David's
Cathedral, where we disembarked and played a riotous game
of pass-the-balloon-between-your-knees to someone else. Lots of giggles and downright belly laughs! Dinner was
served at HarWee Yee, a North Hobart Chinese tradition,
where we enjoyed Beef and Black Bean, Chicken and Cashews
and Fried Rice and maybe a glass of something or
other..... Dessert was next, and we ended up at McDonalds
Rosny for decadent Hot Fudge and thick Caramel Sundaes. Yummmmm.

The
last stop was where we BEGAN four years ago....Irish
Murphy's in Salamanca. The young people all wanted to
know who we were and what we were doing. Those who didn't
want anything alcoholic trouped down to the bakery in
Salamanca Square for a coffee before boarding the buses to
take us all back to the Black Buffalo.
We had a huge raffle,
and everyone won a prize, but the biggie was The
Birthday Bear, a very large teddy dressed in
Red Hat
fabric skirt, a red hat and red hat earrings. She was won
by none other than Lady
Laugh-a-Lot Lyn. Now, there was a condition to this big
win...the winner only has possession of the bear (not
named yet, but stay tuned...maybe Baroness
Belinda Birthday Bear????).
Lady Laughalot has to add something to her costume, and
next year Belinda (or whatever) will be raffled off again
and the new winner must add something to the costume, and
so on it will go. This will be a well-travelled bear.
And
all this for only $30 per member. The Chapter
subsidized $10 per person, so that made it all more
affordable for every one. A good time was had by all, by
the number of 'thank you' emails and calls I've had - and
thank YOU for saying so.
I'll
end with the poem that Sister Shepherdess (the Scarlet
Bard) Maureen sent to me, which says it all........ thank
you Maureen.

Birthday
