Tasmanian Hatamatazz
8-9 September 2007
The
Hatamatazz went really well for our first state get together, so much so the Red Hatters are looking forward to getting together again in the future.
Ladies from
‘The Red n` Rowdy Hatters` and
‘Hatters to Go` from Burnie, ‘Sassy sisters` from Launceston,
‘Ladies in Red` from Ulverstone, and
‘Scarlett O'Hatters` from Hobart, Chapters all met for lunch at the Links Restaurant at the Launceston Casino. Our corner of the restaurant was decorated in purple and red and when all the ladies arrived it became the most cheery, happy and most colourful area of the room. Each of the Queens introduced their Chapter and let us knows how they started and told us about some of their activities. Lucky door tickets were drawn and the winners were pleased with their little prizes. We then had the opportunity to purchase some red hat products from the mini store. A big thank you went to
Contessa Du Champers Jill and the `Hatters to Go` for organising the get together.
Queen Joann extended an invitation to the other Chapters to join us for the Christmas Pageant in Hobart on the 17th November, which is colourful and lots of fun.
Checking into our accommodation took time, but worth the wait. Groups of Red Hat ladies could be heard giggling and chatting behind the little hedges at their villa units enjoying a wine or champagne in the late afternoon sun. Some ladies met and had a pizza dinner whilst others headed straight to the casino and enjoyed the music and had a snack before trying their luck on the pokies.
About twenty ladies looked
colourful in PJ`s, traipsing to the villa unit of the
Contessa Du Champers Jill and
Joann Queen Julep Magnolia Blossom
for breakfast the next morning. Lots of contributions of brekkie food to share, champagne orange juice, beautiful fresh fruit,
Queen Julep Magnolia Blossom Joann, made a beautiful frittata and of course toast and coffee were enjoyed.
Contessa Du Champers Jill read the `Hair Removal` as performed at Bundaberg – such a giggle, Lady Quaver Gail
from Scarlett O'Hatters read `Lost Grandmother` which was
fun. It was then time to say our farewells to our
wonderful new red hat friends. Travelling home for
some of the northwest hatters was via the Evandale Market
and lunch at the Raspberry Farm (a must when travelling in
the north west of Tasmania).
