Christmas Pageant
Saturday 17th November 2007
Well, we've done it again. Saturday's Christmas Pageant was SUCH fun, and all the
Scarletts get a real HIGH from seeing the smiles on spectators' faces, and the frantic waving and hearing
"Merry Christmas!" shouted at us. The red and purple Fashion Fantasia costumes loaned by
Art Tart Rossy
were a hit and enhanced our image. Following the parade we adjourned to the Theatre Royal Hotel for a lunch and to take time to come down from the high of participating in the pageant
I'd like to quote the response from
‘Mrs Santa’
- a yearly participant, that I think says it all!!!
"Just like to add my feelings for the day…. Wherever I looked on the day, people were smiling, waving, cheering, showing their appreciation, surprise, and in a lot of cases, wonder at what and who we were, showing joy that we are participating. Looking at the faces of a lot of the women, and this includes the under 50's, I can see the 'if only I were game enough' look in their eyes. This is the most wonderful opportunity available to us to show the world (well, Hobart to start with) that we are here, to have fun and enjoy life."
Friday December 7th,
Vice Queen Madam May Bloom Janine and Joann Queen Julep Magnolia Blossom accepted the
Runner Up Award for the Best Costumed Group for the Hobart 2007 Christmas Pageant. (Last year, for those who don't know, we won runner-up in the Best Community Group section.)
The award is a terrific framed photo of
Contessa di Sparkle Rik , Polar Sea Rover Pru , Pearly Queen Anne , Jester Jenni
with her big umbrella hat and
Lady Quaver Gail marching, waving banners, with biggest smiley faces and obviously having a wonderful time! I'm going to try and get copies for those in the picture.
