The Scarlett O’Hatters,
are a
group of “young at heart” women, aged 50 (and beyond and who
come in all shapes and sizes) who enjoy getting together and
sharing some Fun, Friendship, Freedom, Fulfilment and lots of
Frivolity!
A huge variety of exciting events are planned during each year
that we attend with eagerness and enthusiasm and we take great
pleasure in wearing our “full
(Red Hat Society) regalia” - purple outfits with a red hat.
We also welcome under 50’s. Their
“dress code” calls for lavender outfits with pink hats until
they 'reduate' (when they reach 50).
Our birthday is celebrated on St Patrick’s Day each year and
this year (2010), we celebrated our 5th birthday!
Our web site www.scarlettohatters-hobart.com lists
upcoming events for each month of the year and is being
constantly updated as new events arise.
We have a Planning Group who meet monthly to discuss and
organise events and who are open to suggestions from all members
as to where/what they would like to see happening. Other than
this, there are no meetings, no fundraising and no minutes!
We currently number 55 with anywhere between 12-30 turning up
for any one Event. Our only rule is that we act in good taste whenever we are out
in public together
If members cannot drive, or don’t like driving, we also have
carpooling available, that is supplied by other members. We
welcome and encourage members to attend events as much as
possible so that our “red hat” sisterhood continues to form a
strong bond between us.
Our promise to all of those who join us is that "The Red Hat
Society” will open doors to a better tomorrow for women age 50
and beyond, adding
Fun, Friendship, Freedom and Fulfilment
to their lives. Each member can expect to be welcomed into our
sisterhood and to be treated with dignity and respect. Together,
we will extend the hand of friendship to women across the
globe."
