Lower Crackpot Weekend

Madam May Bloom Janine organised a weekend touring the North West Coast. We called the weekend the Lower Crackpot Weekend as that was our ultimate destination.  The pace was hectic at times  but we managed to be on time to meet some of the North West  Red Hat Sisters.

We ate  our way from Launceston to Burnie and back to Hobart. We being Madam May Bloom Janine, Lady Lunchalot Pauline, Goddess Barbara, Lady Laughalot Lyn, Passionate Pamela and  Queen Julep Magnolia Blossom Joann. We all  decided we needed to go on diets to compensate for the great indulgences over the weekend.

We caught up with our Lone Scarlett O`Hatter members in Launceston Dame Margo d`Barre who organised lunch at the new Josef Cromy Winery at Relbia.

The six who drove and ATE our way across the north and west of the state this past weekend had  great fun, and the most important thing we learned is that there are a LOT of interesting things to see and do in this state, and we didn't even scratch the surface! The quality of tourist attractions has risen markedly from a few years ago, no doubt thanks to the ferry traffic. We all vowed to return (several times!) to take in more of what is on offer.

We had a beautiful morning tea  with   members from two Burnie Red Hat Chapters (at a Whisky Distillery at 10:30 am, mind you!) Hatters to Go with Queen Jean and the Red n Rowdy Hatters with Queen Laraine.

We reached our destination at Lower Crack Pot, and indulged in double cream pancake desserts and wandered around the model village of Lower Crackpot and then dared to take on the challenge of The Maze.  Unfortunately a thunderstorm was heading our way rather fast, so we did not make it to the centre - we will have to go back another day.

At the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, we met with two Deloraine chapters (one a daytime chapter The Dizzy Delights of Deloraine with Queen Alison and the evening group The Daring Dames of Deloraine with Queen Rebel Rosylocks Chel who had not met each other before.  Then with full tummies we headed south again.
