Hello Scarletts
Vice Queen Sandra met up with some lovely Red Hat ladies
on her recent trip to Brisbane.
Scarletts Lady Chat-a-Lot (CherylL) and Lady......I Not
(Tricia) are currently touring New Zealand.
Received an email from them yesterday saying “Hi”
to everyone and that they are having a great time.
We also have another Red Hat lady
arriving in Hobart tomorrow from Adelaide – Queen Bee with
an Attitude (Maureen Gow-Smith), who is going along to see
Bjorn Again with a group of our own Scarletts.
It is so good to hear that when Scarletts are
out-and-about that they are meeting up with other Red Hat
groups/ladies. And lovely for us to meet up with others
when visiting Tasmania. It
all keeps our wonderful
“sisterhood” alive!

Hello Scarletts
I have received an email from Scarlett
Jeannie with the Light Grey Hair, who is on a cruise right
now, saying hello and that she is thinking of us.
Lucky lady – we hope you are having a wonderful
time!
Have also
received an email from our web mistress,
Madam May Bloom (Janine), who is travelling (via
campervan)
and was at Murray Bridge when she
emailed me as follows: “While I was at Mannum I had a
look at an exhibition of local art work. All very good.
And as usual, a red hat caught my eye. Sandie Keuhne
one of the artists was
exhibiting among others, some of her red hat paintings.
She is inspired by her “Red Hat Murray Darlings”
chapter for some of her
works. I was very bold and phoned her to see if the Murray
Darlings had any functions on that I could attend. There
weren’t any planned events so she invited me for morning
tea the next morning. As
Sandie, “Princess Picasso”,
lives opposite the caravan park
which was very handy, it was a quick walk up the hill. She
had lots of photo diaries out to show me and some of her
paintings that she had made into blank greeting cards, so
I purchased some - I will frame a couple. It was
lovely to hear how their Chapter works and how they are
going, all very positive. Sandie was rather chuffed that I
had phoned, and realised this is a part of what Red
Hatting is all about – being able to meet up with “our
sisters” where ever we go”.
Glad you are having such an enjoyable trip Janie –
another lucky lady!
Drive carefully!

Hello Scarletts
6 Scarletts enjoyed friendship during lunch at Jam Packed
last Friday. The Mercury photographer arrived and we all
posed and smiled dutifully for our photo shoot - so keep
your eyes open over the next few weeks for an article
about the Scarletts on “Linda’s Page”. Thank you to
Jester Jennie Holmes a Hatter
for arranging this for us! 8 of us went on to The
Lark Distillery where we had an interesting lesson in how
malt whiskey is made, followed by some tastings.
The
Mercury photographer has also called at the aged care home
(where Jennie’s mum lives) and took some photos of our
“other” Scarletts who reside there and they will feature
with us on “Linda’s Page”.
How lovely for these elderly ladies to have the
chance to show off their red hats and beautiful smiles!
Once again, thanks to Jennie for arranging this!
This is a general invitation from our own Scarlett Polar
Sea Rover – Pru Bonham.

Now, a decade after their divorce, an innocent dinner
between Jane and Jake turns into the unimaginable – an

Hello Scarletts
My computer has been out-of-action for a week, so if you
replied to an event and your name is not down for it
could you please reply again?
I lost all my emails in the process of setting up
a new computer, which has been quite an experience!
On top of that we lost all the channels on our
TV, so it’s been quite a “technological” week in the
Scott household.
I
would like to thank Malissa for her valuable help in
setting up applications for managing the web page on my
computer while Janine is away.
And thank you also to Janine for the lessons she
has given me in updating the web page. Only hope I can
remember it all!
7 Scarletts attended a very basic lunch at Putters Golf
Moonah. 6 of
us then went on to play a round of golf on the outdoor
course, which was a lot of fun.
Rosemary scored a “hole in one” on the 17th
hole and I scored one on the 18th hole (much
to my surprise).
Thank you to the Scarletts who attended – it was
lovely to see and chat to you!
Our next event (which may have to be cancelled due to
lack of numbers) is

Hello Scarletts
Last
Sunday was the Greek Cookoff at Tawdry Audrey’s home
at Kingston and what a great Sunday afternoon we had.
8 of us each took a different
dish and what a lovely combination of taste and variety
there was. Lunch lasted 4 hours and the fun and friendship
was thoroughly enjoyed by us all! Thank you to Tawdry
Audrey for sharing her home with us.
10 Scarletts enjoyed dinner
at The Astor Grill last night, which lived up to its
reputation for “fine dining”. It is a nice change these
days to sit down to a crisp white tablecloth and well laid
out cutlery and china. For $36.50 the meal was delicious,
the service was excellent and we can thoroughly recommend it
for a night out. Thank you to those who attended, you all
looked lovely as usual!

Hello Scarletts
Over 20 Scarletts got together for lunch
at the Cascade Brewery Visitors Centre
and reports received back
were that some of the meals
were okay, others not so good. It is hard selecting venues
to go to for meals, as things change so much (and so
quickly) these days. I guess we can only try these places
out and judge for ourselves.
It was lovely that so many of
you attended and I am only sorry I couldn’t make it after
all. I am sure you all looked wonderful (as usual!) and I
thank you all for supporting our Scarletts so well.
How lovely too, that one of
the actresses from Busting Out (showing at the DEC) was at
the Cascade Brewery Visitors Centre
and offered the Scarletts
some free tickets to see their show. I have heard that 8
Scarletts went and it was very amusing and witty.
This Sunday is the Greek Cookoff - 12noon
– FULLY BOOKED - being held at Tawdry Audrey’s home at
Kingston. Looking forward to attending this, as these
cookoff’s are a lot of fun, and a great way to spend a
Sunday afternoon!

Sunny, redecorated 1 bedroom unit. Close to Mount Nelson
store, University, Hobart College and public transport. Bush
setting with off street parking, whitegoods & built-ins.

Hello Scarletts
Its been a bit of a nuisance in the past,
when shows come to Tassie and we have had to book and pay in
advance to attend. This has meant I have had to pay upfront
on my credit or debit card, (and Queen Joann did this before
me using her cards) and then wait to be reimbursed from
Scarletts attending events, putting us out of pocket. I
gave this a lot of thought and have obtained a credit card
for the Scarletts use which I plan to use for these advance
bookings only. So ladies, if you know of any shows coming
to Tassie in the future that could be of interest to us
Scarletts, please let me know and I can book some good seats
in advance.
6 Scarletts and one guest had Brunch at Grape
Salamanca last Sunday and then strolled along to the Long
Gallery to view The Knitting Room display. Breakfast was
very slow coming to us but was delicious when it finally
arrived. The Knitting Room display was well worth seeing and
the attention to detail in the smaller pieces was quite
amazing.
There are lots of exciting events coming up
