Hello Scarletts
12 Scarletts
(including me)
attended the Friday night dinner at
Don Camillo
– Magnet Court Sandy Bay and we had a great time! The food
was appetizing (as always) and there was lots of chitchat
and laughter while we all enjoyed each others company. Some
of the diners commented on how lovely we all looked in our
red hats and the waiter said “it was a pleasure to have us
in their restaurant”. (Maybe I need to rethink doing away
with the Friday night dinners??) Thank you to all the
ladies who attended. Lovely to catch up with you and every
one of you looked fabulous, as always!
I would like to
welcome Priscilla (from Victoria) who has joined the
Scarletts for a year, while her husband is working here in
Tasmania. Lovely to have you with us!

Balmoral, it was decided to hold it at the Queen Mum’s Royal

Hello Scarletts
Well, your Planning Group met and had a very
interesting time discussing events for 2010. Hopefully
there should be something for everyone to enjoy. The Friday
night dinners have been changed to one every quarter as a
“theme” night (e.g. one at the beginning of each season only)
and red hats will be decorated accordingly for spring,
summer, autumn, winter. There will be a prize for the best
decorated hat!
We also have use of a room with kitchen
facilities, toilets, plenty of off street parking at The
Salvation Army Hobart Citadel in Elizabeth Street (next to
40 Winks) where we hope to hold various games nights, theme
nights, craft nights, casserole nights, cook offs, swap
nights etc. We are getting the use of this room for very
little cost and entry on “the night” will be by gold coin
donation. I am sure we can adhere to their “no alcohol or
smoking allowed on the premises” policy?
It was also decided to use a small portion of
all our Subs money towards the hire of a mini-bus 4 times a
year to take us to “out of town” events”. These are not
expensive to hire and we can drive them ourselves. If you
are interested in being a nominated driver, please let me
know. I will put my name down to be driver for the Oatlands
Festival trip on October 17th.

stunning after Janine (our hostess) had finished doing
theirs. Thank you also to

the cost of petrol these days plus wear-and-tear on
vehicles, parking etc.

Sixteen Scarletts attended our first event for 2010 – and
enjoyed a relaxing and friendly lunch at the
Huon Manor last Friday. The
food, the company and the setting were excellent. A good
choice! My hubby leant me his car and four of us travelled
together. It was so nice to chat and enjoy each other’s
company on the drive down and back. Afterwards a few went
exploring around the town. Possible new member Rosemary came
along to see if she would like to become a Scarlett and
signed up! Welcome Rosemary!

January 2010
Hello Scarletts
Happy New Year Everyone.
I hope that 2010 is a happy and safe
one for us all!
Having said that, I have started my new year off with a
cracked rib, and feel very sore and uncomfortable at times –
so surely it has to get better from here on in! I had a
fall on Boxing Day – slipped on a wet kitchen floor - so a
word of caution here for all of us to “take special care in
and around the home at all times”.
2010 Subs are now due.
Subs of $20 each were due as at 1st January 2010. If you

Following on after previous discussions within the Planning
Group, it has been decided that Fascinators/Hatettes are
suitable to wear to events (if preferred), particularly in
the warmer weather.
Today is our lunch at the
Huon Manor - 12 noon -
Main Road Huonville.
Huonville is a bit like Sorell or New Norfolk, a town you
travel through on the way to somewhere else but rarely stop
at. So I am looking forward to discovering any changes that
have taken place since my last visit. Looking forward to
exploring with fellow Scarletts: SandraJ, Janine, Joann,
JeanetteR, PatP, VirginiaL, MargaretZ, MaryP, JeanW,
ShirleyP, BarbaraB, ElaineN, Rik, CherylL, Rosemary
(possible new member).
